From swimming and tennis at primary school, to a Sports Science degree, to coaching across multiple disciplines for almost two decades — and how that path led to Evolve.
Sport has always been a central part of my life. During primary and high school, I trained and competed across multiple disciplines including swimming, tennis, sprinting, wrestling, football, and rock climbing. Being exposed to different sports from a young age shaped the way I think about movement, athleticism, and physical preparation today.
I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science from Kocaeli University (KOU), where I developed a deeper understanding of human performance, strength & conditioning, endurance development, movement mechanics, and sport-specific athletic preparation. During this period, I focused on combining scientific knowledge with practical coaching methods across different sporting disciplines.
I began my professional coaching career in 2005 as a Swimming Coach and Tennis Coach before expanding into Strength & Conditioning coaching. Since then, I've worked with children, adults, and athletes from a wide range of sporting backgrounds, helping them improve performance, recover from injury, and build long-term physical confidence.
Over the years, my coaching approach evolved into a more holistic system that combines strength training, endurance, movement quality, recovery, mobility, sport massage, and rehabilitation principles. I'm particularly interested in helping people move better, feel stronger, and stay physically capable long-term.
I continue to refine my coaching methods through hands-on practice, rehabilitation work, movement training, and ongoing education. The most rewarding part of coaching for me is contributing to positive change in people's lives and helping them realise their physical potential.
I love being part of a training environment that feels supportive, grounded, and community-driven — and I hope people feel that energy when they walk into Evolve.
Areas I focus on when working 1:1 or running sessions.
Developing strength, endurance, movement capacity, and overall athletic performance through structured training tailored to each individual.
Helping people rebuild confidence and physical capacity after injury through progressive rehabilitation and strength-based training.
Using mobility and movement-focused systems to improve body awareness, movement quality, resilience, and long-term physical health.
Combining hands-on recovery methods, fascia-focused work, and soft tissue techniques to support movement quality and overall performance.
Long-term physical development comes from balancing strength, movement quality, recovery, and consistency. Coaching is not only about improving performance, but about helping people feel stronger, healthier, and more connected to their body.— Mahmut, on his coaching philosophy
