"I used the expert guidance of Idris Owen, a strength & conditioning coach, at Evolve Athletic, to prepare for a Bikini Class WABBA qualifier earlier this year. When we first met I was trying to stay motivated, build better glutes and legs, and change my body composition. I wanted to be on stage in 5 months.

Idris was encouraging, he knew from experience what was possible and designed a plan to achieve the maximum results from the limited time I had each week. His experience and planning removed so much of the time burden associated with competition preparation.

We trained at odd hours; training plans were even adapted for staying away with work.

I found the methods we used to be solid and up to date, it was easy to have total faith in his approach. In fact most of the time he was a better judge of what I could handle than I was!

Although I had considered myself reasonably athletic, having competed in multiple triathlons, 200km+ endurance cycle rides and a competitive touch rugby player, I wasn’t particularly confident in the gym, nor did I have a great understanding of the way my body moved.

"This is my personal character reference for Idris Owen. I have known Idris for about a year and have been coached by him for roughly 6 months. I was first introduced to Idris through the local gym that I attend where he started to take over one of the CrossFit classes as an instructor. I've found that he consistently exceeds expectations in his interpersonal skills, dedication and knowledge as a personal trainer. 

During classes and individually, Idris comes across very natural with a friendly, welcoming attitude and able to communicate efficiently and clearly to groups and individuals. "I first met Idris when he started taking over a CrossFit class I had been taking part in. I was slightly apprehensive as I had always trained with women and wasn't very confident in myself. How wrong I was. Idris is so passionate about what he does and has so much knowledge he immediately put me at ease. He has to be one of the most motivating coaches I have ever trained with and you can't help but become just as excited along with him.

Idris gives a new meaning to the saying 'train smarter, not harder'. Idris's approach is scientific (which I love!) and geared to the individual. He recognised my strengths and weaknesses and then set to work. I started training Olympic Lifting with him and within a few months my Clean & Jerk had gone up by 15kg! I absolutely loved his strength & conditioning classes, they were always varied and a lot of fun, he always had a 'cool new excercise' to teach us!

Idris will push you hard, and there are times when I've thought he was totally nuts, but the truth is Idris knew I could achieve so much more than I thought I could.

I found myself actually looking forward to going to the gym and training rather than fearing it and I've achieved things I never thought I could. I would 100% recommend Idris!"

"I contacted Idris to help me train for my first marathon, as I needed some strength work to supplement my runs. I got much more out of the sessions than I expected. Idris is a really knowledgeable and dedicated Personal Trainer who was committed to helping me reach my goal. His help went well beyond the sessions and he advised me on all aspects of my training, including my nutrition and recovery. I feel like I've learnt a lot about training and building strength from him.

Also importantly, the sessions themselves were really good fun! Idris has a lot of jazzy equipment that was fun to try out and it meant that the 7am starts were always worth it!

"When I met Idris I was amazed by the in depth knowledge on the conditioning and nutritional side of training. He openly helped and guided me suggesting some simple tweaks to my regular nutrition programme which opened up a whole new path to my body conditioning. After following a carb-cycling programme I managed to get myself into possibly the best shape of my life.

We ran through a body composition analysis to see where I was at. The result was 6.9% overall body fat whilst maintaining muscle mass. This was a huge achievement for me as I am looking to compete in some bodybuilding shows within the next 12 months.
